Cook for the Cure
LibbyRoach.ca – September 24

Cook for the Cure is ramping up for their December 7th cooking competition and last night’s celebrity chef studded event was a food fueled event. Celebrating their 11th year, this fantastic charity is raising not only money, but awareness on the disease that will affect one in nine women in their lifetime.

Lucky for me, I snagged a ticket for the event from my fave peeps at Gastropost. The chefs (Lynn Crawford, Corbin Tomaszeski, Vikram Vij, and Mark McEwan) were in fine form, mingling and working the crowd. Wine and cocktails loosened the mood up, and the highlight (other than meeting the culinary heavyweights) was definitely hearing a survivors touching story about how she overcame her battle with breast cancer.

Cooking for the Cure; Sun's own Rita DeMontis whips up support for upcoming fundraising effort
Toronto Sun – August 4

I'll do just about anything to help raise funds for worthy causes. Including holding up a bowl of whipped cream over my head in front of a group of strangers and celebrity chefs, praying I don't make a fool of myself should the cream plop all over me. But it didn't--and I'd do it all over again to help promote the upcoming Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's KitchenAid Cook for The Cure event coming up in December. Taking place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Dec. 7, the KitchenAid Cook for the Cure Culinary Showdown can only be described as an exclusive experience -- all in support of creating a future without breast cancer, say officials for the Foundation, considered the largest, non-governmental funder of breast cancer research in Canada. This amazing event brings together an all-star lineup of mighty established Canadian chefs, including Food Network's Lynn Crawford, Chuck Hughes, Mark McEwan, Vikram Vij and Corbin Tomaszeski, whose role it is to recruit a group of amateur foodies to compete on their team for the first-ever KitchenAid Cook for the Cure Culinary Showdown.
